I read this article this morning on Reuters AlertNet and was shocked. The survey was conducted by Lembaga Survey Indonesia (LSI) or the Indonesian Survey Institute and found that 89% of the population (read: RESPONDENTS) are against terrorism (suicide bombings, to be precise). The Reuter report itself is posted by 2 Indonesians (from their names they seem Indonesians, anyway).

The survey, based on 1,200 respondents across Indonesia’s 33 provinces, showed 11.2 percent believed suicide bombings were justifiable on occasion while 0.5 percent said the method could always be justified to defend Islam from its enemies

How is suicide bombings justifiable? Justified by religion? In who’s eyes? Indonesia is a plural country with many religions. Although 85% of the entire population are muslims, I think that the majority of it live their lives in very moderate ways. However I do think that everyone in the country should help to promote peace and go against these suicide bombings and terrorism.

For the respondents who support the bombings (or say that it can be justified for whatever reason), I can’t wait until one of these bombs kills someone you love. Then I’d like to know how your opinion REALLY is about this.
