Work, TurkmenistanApril 13, 2007 10:01 am

So, last night we reached the target depth for the 26″ hole section. This means there’ll be at least 2 days before we start drilling the next section. I am currently working in a field operated by Petronas Carigali in the Caspian Sea. I am a MWD/LWD Engineer. My job is to provide measurements and logs, to the directional driller (so that he can steer the well) and the geologist (so that he can perform further formation evaluation and make decisions regarding the well).

On this job, I am with a fellow engineer, Omar Kubatayev from Ashgabat. We had a long QnA talk after supper. Of course I did most of the asking, and he did the answering. (more…)

“Human beings, no matter where we go, what decisions we make, we will always feel angry, sad, happy, bored. Those are humanly feelings that are forever attached to us, regardless of the decisions we make” - Arida Permata

Tommorow will be my last day in this company. After working for 17 months, I have decided to rejoin my previous employer. I am planning to relocate Ashgabat, Turkmenistan along with my wife. I guess it’s the adventure that drove us to take this opportunity. At first I had doubts of whether it would be best for us; being far from our families and friends, living in a country with totally different language and culture. But what my wife said that night, somehow was the antidote of all the doubts I had that night. (more…)

3.5 hours left to 2006. BNI ATM transaction alone, as of now, is occuring at around 500 transactions per minute, Indonesia-wide. Amazing.

Anyways, looking out the window, traffic is building up and the streets of Jakarta is starting to get busy. My family called a couple of minutes ago, wishing me a happy and successful year ahead.

In about 2 hours, I will start writing my annual diary (because I write in it every December 31st). I call it my resolution book, where I record stuff that happened the previous year, and new resolutions for the new year.
People have come and gone, good times and bad times have passed. Life goes on.

Happy new year everyone!

On December 3-4, 2005, all the guys from the IT Division, which summed up to around 400 people, went to Anyer for an outbound training. It was full of fun, it got pretty dirty at the end of day one, tho… as we all dove into the stinky swamp.
Anyways, here are some snapshots of some of the games we played.

SwampGame with friends

Good stuff…

WorkSeptember 10, 2005 4:21 am

Its saturday today.
Here I am at the office.
Its still so quiet here, no one’s yet to arrive. Its 9 am. That’s when they (vendor people) said they’d be here. But I would bet my money they are not gonna arrive until at least 10 am. Punctuality is like a word that just doesn’t exist in the dictionary.
Anyways, today’s supposed to be an easy job, just supervising some guys reinstalling the new PABX and connecting it to the newly installed E1 connection (initially supposed to be used for data, then management decided to utilize it for voice). Of course, easy doesn’t mean fast, this process may take the whole day. Just hoping that nothing’s wrong when we get to testing.

There goes my plans to go jogging with my girlfriend.
There goes my plans to work on school homework.
Well… can’t win ‘em all…

Today is the the 25th.
My favourite day of the Month.
Pay Day :P

There’s an issue that there’s gonna be a raise next month (hurray!!! hope its true).
Still got lots to learn about budget management, coz need to save up some more.
Well.. its just so good to see all the happy faces on the 25th. You see people going off to nice restaurants, or go to a cheap restaurant and just devour themselves with plenty of food.
On 25th, you see people queueing at ATMs to cash out… the work has paid-off… hehehe…
I sometimes wonder if they cash out just to buy themselves a good time, or pay overdued bills and debts that they owe the past month…
But whatever reason… its a good day… and am listening to a damn good jazz music :)

peace out
